Rich Roll’s Daily Routine: Enjoying Plant-Based Living
Rich Roll didn’t find his life’s purpose until his 40s. Just before turning 40, he felt heart pain while climbing the stairs. Knowing heart disease ran in his family, he realized he needed to make big lifestyle changes immediately. These changes would not only improve his health but also transform his entire life. Intermittent Fasting
Rich Roll’s daily routine involves picking out select days every week which he dedicates to intermittent fasting days. He tends to alter his routine significantly on these days as opposed to typical days. He starts with a cup of coffee in the morning, drinks plenty of water, and heads out to train. Roll, being a morning person, prefers to exercise right away, as it becomes much harder to fit it in later in the day.
Rich Roll’s Morning Schedule
Rich Roll’s doesn’t like scheduling any work before noon. He, therefore, uses the morning to take certain activities out of the way before starting the daily grind.
Breakfast
- Starts with a cup of coffee
- Drinks plenty of water
Exercise
Rich tends to pick out one of three exercise activities to stay fit and healthy daily. This includes swimming, trail running or biking.
Writing & journaling
Rich Roll dedicates time every morning to journal and write consistently. Journaling provides numerous benefits, such as improving mood, reducing stress, and increasing optimism.
Post-Workout Smoothie
Rich Roll loves a post-workout green smoothie on non-fasting days.
- This smoothie is made with a base of dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, or a combination of both.
- He then adds a mix of berries, including blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries, along with hemp seeds, chia seeds, water, coconut water, beets, beet greens and a scoop of protein powder.
12:00: Work Schedule
Rich Roll is the host of the Rich Roll Podcast; a platform that features inspiring conversations with thought leaders, athletes, and wellness experts, focusing on personal growth, health, fitness, and environmental sustainability, aimed at empowering listeners to live better lives.
When not recording his podcast, Rich is doing research for it, conducting meetings, and running his other business operations.

Dinner
Rich has a huge appetite and loves to eat a lot of food. While he enjoys fancy restaurants and delicacies, his everyday diet consists of simpler foods.
- Rice and beans are staples, with meals like rice, black beans, guacamole, hot sauce, and greens on top. He eats this variation three or four times a week.
- Another favorite is a vegan burrito, which includes all these ingredients wrapped up.
